Onan 5.5 HGJAC Error 14

I have an Onan 500 HGJAC model gas generator that gave me a code (can't remember which one) that made me think the Air filter was clogged or needed replacing. I didn't have one, so I cleaned it and it started working again. I was so happy, that I forgot to put the main cover back on. 7 hrs later (running without the main cover), it died. I tried to start it again and now I get an error code 14 and dies instantly. I don't think itís the carburetor as it was running fine before I forgot to put the main cover back on and It will run for about 20-30 secs if I remove one of the wires on the brushes and hold the start button down.

FYI, I tried opening P1 pin 15 and 20 (kill/ground on fault I think) with no change.
Per manual - Inspect ignition kill leads in harness and at connector P1: repair or replace lead, terminal or pins as necessary. IS that pins 15 and 20?

Any input is welcomed.

Running without the main cover (as you probably know) will cause overheating of the generator, as the cover provides air flow. Check out this web site for some help in troubleshooting.
