Onan 5500 Marquis Gold Generator

My generator had reached the point that it would no longer run so I searched for a rebuild kit which was a complete failure. I purchased a new carburetor for this unit and in 30 minutes this puppy was running like a champ. Cost was about $225 but worth it to me so I could get back on the road without melting in my seat. The vehicle AC unit was just not capable of cooling the 35 footer. Nothing like good cabin AC and the power to drive it.

Good to hear. I also replaced the carb on a 5500 after recomnendations to not try and rebuild.

The fuel pump is a common failure point. Easy to change and relatively inexpensive.

Hey guys, I'm looking for the carburetor float bowl - hex head bolt with altitude adjustment.

Did you by chance keep the old carb? Willing to sell the bolt? Cummings wants to sell me a new carb when the bolt is the only problem. The altitude adjustment screw is frozen.

I need the bolt that holds the float bowl (at bottom of pic) to center of carb. It also adjusts fuel to different altitudes whereby giving either less fuel or more fuel to the float bowl.

I'm not seeing that bolt in the picture unless it is the elongated one on the right. Mine has a plastic black cover over what is essentially a needle valve - tapped into the float bowl screw.

Again, my generator is a 2000 7KW Marquis but, I am sure that the part I am looking for is used on many other float bowl's

I do still have the old carb. I am out of town this week but will be back on 9/18 if you are interested in purchasing the old unit. Send me an address and just pay for the shipping, $15 or so.

OntheRun - can you post a pic of the carb? If the altitude adjustment knob on the bottom of the float bowl looks the same, heck yes; it's sold !!!
