Onan 7500 buzzing sound in front
My Onan quiet diesel 7500 is super quiet from he side but in the front it make a a buzzing sound. It's not too noticeable at higher rpm when the generator runs smoother but it's noticeable when it revs down. I got under the Rv and it looks like a black box, probably the airbox that's the culprit. When I push up on it, the buzzing sound stops completely. Haven't had the rv but a week and am giving it a really good once over this weekend. I'm a mechanic for a living so any repairs will be done by myself. Just curious if anyone else has had the "buzzing sound" and how they fixed it

If it's a black box with a wing nut on it, that is the cover for the air cleaner. The air cleaner inside may not have been put on and secured all the way in place causing the cover not to fit tight. Take it apart, and reseat the air cleaner then put the cover back on.

Jmoney7269,
Well Sir, it "sounds" as if you've narrowed it down at least to a general area. Just because you pushed on the "black box" and the noise stopped, that may not mean you've found the exact cause. It may be something that's a short distance away from it and, you're steadying that too. So, it also sounds as if you've got the skills to make essential repairs/adjustments to cure the problem.
So, what's the hold up? Let's hear that you've fixed it. And, please report back with what you needed to do so that, just in case someone also developed the problem and, has a 7.5QD, they might have a short cut to a repair. Good luck.
Scott

As you've figured out, it's the air cleaner cover and you can't tighten it enough to quiet it down. Fred Flintstone fix: Take a small stone and jam it in on the lower side of the air cleaner case. Problem fixed. I have done at least 10 like that.

the ding sounds like mine when all the jacks aren't up. You also have a vacuum leak. That compressor cycling is a vacuum pump that runs the A/C, heat vents up front. It should run when starting , and then only occasionally after that. At least that's the sound on a Freightliner XC chassis

Ok I fixed the buzzing sound in the front. It was the air cleaner box on the genny. When I installed the new filter and the cover it was a lot quieter. I think they had the housing on it not all the way seated. I also jammed a folded up shop towel between the housing and now it's whisper quiet. Thanks for the rock idea. Now I just gotta figure out everything else. You know this is kinda BS because I was told this rv would get the good once over and everything would be working perfect. I'm actually considering small claims court on this one.
