onan 7500 gen issue

2007 Jayco seneca (diesel)

I have a onan 7500 gen and xantrex inverter

Up until the other day everything worked fine.

While driving back from FLA we went to start it for the microwave.

The generator runs, but there was no power to anything. It still starts and runs fine, but still won't power anything

I've read every thread I could find here and all over google.

I downloaded the manual and checked the fault codes.

The screen on the panel inside the coach reads:

inverter fault

service fault 11

I've checked every fuse i could find on the inverter, everybreaker, and even pulled the antifreeze tube out and checked the fuses under that service panel.

I am at a loss and before I pay someone to check this out and get ripped off, I want to make sure it's not something that I can fix.

Any help would be great!

Thanks!

Carl

If you have a multimeter, test the output right at the generator....after turning off and resetting the circuit breakers on the gen set itself.

Yes and if the voltage output is ok then it might be the transfer switch. With the power off exercise the switch a little.

My old 7500 also has accessible fuses under the panel.

Make sure all fluids are normal.

Good luck

Thanks for the reply's!

I checked the 3 fuses under the access plate on the gen, they are all ok.

I do have a multimeter, but I am new to the RV life and it generators. I have a gen for the house but this one on the RV has panels all around and seems fairly sealed up. Without sounding too stupid, where would I check the output and how? I did reset that breaker switch a few times.

I even read how to reset the codes so they are gone too now.

The fluids are good from what I can tell, and it runs well. I just had the oil changed a week ago.

As Kimbo said there is a circuit breaker switch located next to the start switch on the generator. Did you cycle that? It is common for those to trip from an overload or not warmed up enough before putting a load on the generator.

The breaker is fail safe switch that protects us from improper operation of the generator. If the microwave was turned on before the 7500 had it's two minute warm up time, good chance the breaker tripped.

I did cycle the switch next to the on/off on the gen itself.

the weird part is that the power never came on to the microwave to even start it up. So the two minutes never came into play.

For the 20 hours down to FLA the gen worked great. Just not sure what could have happened as we didn't do anything different....

again thanks for the help! This is the first time ever asking for help on a website. You all are great to take time to help me! I hope I can help others too and pay it forward!
