Exclamation Onan generator - please help!

I have a 1987 Beaver Marquis Sapphire editon with an Onan 6.3 NEHL-1p/26111a Emerald III propane generator. It was surging and would die shortly after start up. I had a full service done it and it was working ok but then I started the generator with the generator power switch on with a large load on it. It reved very high and It blew the 5amp fuse. I replaced the fuse twice and same result. Starts, high revs then blows the fuse and dies. Tested the bridge rectifier, OHMS didn't give me a reading, diode check read 553 on + and 545 on -. Control board appears to be OK, don't know how to check it though. Any info on how to fix would be greatly appreciated.

So.. I don't know all that much.. but 1st.. when is last time you cleaned armature slip rings ?? They and brushes control more than one would think.. start there.. look in appliance section and download your manual.. also.. hopefully other members will tell you where to find more information..
Look up on you tube FLIGHT SYSTEMS GEN REPAIR.. for slip rings and how and why it's so important..
Good luck and let us know what you did and maybe better members then me will help you
