I have a Cummins Onan Generator, HGJBB (SpecA), RVQG2500LP2.5HGJBB-1121.
It has a muffler built into the housing. However it is very noisy. Can I add a small tractor muffler to the tailpipe? Would the back pressure kill the generator? Any see any problems?

Thank you for responding George. That is a resonator, not a muffler. It does change the sound but it does not reduce the volume, which is what a muffler does. I have that ready to be put on, but then came across an actual small tractor muffler and bought that also. I am wondering if the back pressure may be too much for the Onan. A new Onan LP2500i (inverter type) costs about $4K. Would much prefer not to have to replace it.
