Onan MicroLite 4000 Series KY, Starts runs approximately 10-15 minutes and shuts down

Hello All,
I have been reading and learning from you for some time. Gleaning all I can. You have been so much help with many different problems. This was the worst. I was having issues with my generator. I was running it at least once a month for a minimum of 2 hours. My camper is a Freedom Elite 28Z 2013 model. Then one day it ran about 10 minutes and quit. It would not restart. All it would do was turn over. I am quite a distance from the nearest repair facility. I thing the warranty might have covered it but the cost to take it there would be considerable. So I turned to this forum for help. I followed the advice of several members and this is what I found. I was able to get the generator to run by gravity feeding gas to it so I turned to the supply line or filter/pump. I could get nothing from the tank when I cranked the generator over with line off the carburetor. I detached the line from the filter and tried the pump by cranking the generator over. The pump ran as it should. I now started tracing the line from tank to pump. I found the line flattened in several places because of the route used to conserve line length. It was squeezed together between the frame and camper box (in 3 places), the cables and cable ties (in 2 places). I believe that by use the line was drawn into these tight places because it was so tightly pulled from tank to generator. I installed a new fuel line from tank to filter with relief in it (loose not tight). After doing this the generator ran fine for several days of test starts and runs of 2 hours minimum. It set for about 2 weeks and would not start having some of the same symptoms as before. This time flow was good from tank but pump would not run. Checked power to pump and it was good. I used a meter from pump power supply to ground to check this while my daughter cranked the generator over. I purchased a new pump with filter from advance auto parts (2.5-4 psi delivery, this is different for each generator by size I think so check for pressure by size). This is quite a bit cheaper than onan part. I did a temp install to check the new pump and it worked great. Now for the hardest part removing the bad pump. This took some time because my generator is hard mounted and does not slide out. Instead of mounting the pump/filter back inside of generator box I did as one individual did I read about, I installed it outside of generator box (near and in a dry protected area) where I could service it more easily. This has been a few months ago now and it’s still working. Thanks to all of you I was able to do this.

Excellent. And welcome to the forum!

That's a great little genny, same as what I have in my ten year old coach. It has about 210 hours on it.

I have also fiddled with fuel lines and found loose mounting bolts on the set when it was new. Been fine since.

I would like to figure out a way to get it to pick up fuel when the tank is lower than about one third full. Getting to the pickup line is probably a no-go without dropping the whole tank.
