Hi all. I'm hoping someone can give me some advice here.
I have an Onan RV QG 4000 generator. 4KYFA-26100P to be precise. It's leaking oil. See this photo.
Those holes are pretty much directly under the dipstick. The oil is / was dripping out the one on the right which is furthest in from the front of the generator.
What are those holes? They look to be there by design, not rust damage or something. There is some damage because the thin layer of covering, whatever it is, is missing around that right hole.
The left hole looks like it has a screw thread. I don't think the right one does. Is it missing something?
The dripping seems to have stopped and the dipstick shows plenty of oil so maybe I overfilled it. The dripping started this morning when I removed the dipstick to check the level. I haven't tried starting it yet this morning.
A few more details. I dewinterized the RV a few weeks ago. Checked the generator oil and the dipstick was completely dry. I added a pint of 15W-40. That brought it up near full. I started and ran it for a while and everything seemed fine. Where it was parked all winter, it was on a bit of a lean, oil would have drained to the back of the generator away from the dipstick. I can now see that I should have got it on level ground (as it is now) before checking the level.
We're off on a trip tomorrow. Not boondocking so the generator is not critical except that I've just discovered that the fridge is not starting reliably on propane. That seemed to work fine a few weeks ago too.

My backup plan was to run the generator for the three hour drive to run the fridge on AC power to keep food cold.
Edit: I just checked it again. I definitely overfilled it. The oil is almost up to the top of the dipstick hole. I better try to drain some out. I have the right torx screw bit to get to the drain plug.
Thanks
