I have been looking at posts but haven’t seen this issue so hope someone can help. My coach runs on shore power but when I try to run my A/C or coffee maker on the Gen the power goes out for about 30 seconds then returns. I have checked the power leads at the Generator and at the ATS and get 121 volts on both legs at both ends. The contacts on the ATS seem ok and no burned or discoloration on wires at either end. There was some corrosion at the Gen but I cleaned the contacts with no change. I was thinking that the Gen isn’t putting out enough amps so the ats detects low voltage and shuts down but not sure how to know if it is the Gen or not. Thanks for any comments or suggestions you may have

Your ATS has a 30 second delay after it senses good power from the generator. That's so it can stabilize the engine running.
If your ATS is repeating the cycle, I would think that the generator voltage is not holding steady and dropping below around 100 volts, causing the ATS to disconnect. Once the load is off the generator, voltage increases and it starts the 30 second countdown again.
Hook up your volt meter and watch it as it cycles.

What year, model generator? There are many different variations of 8,000-watt Onan's. Ill assume Diesel! Contant speed or variable speed QD series. How old and how many hours? Has it ever been maintained?

Hi, we have a 2010 itasca maridian 34y with onan qd 8000 that has about 1200 hours on it. As to the maintenance it has had oil changes but I don’t know about any thing else we just got this from a private party a couple weeks ago.
Turns out the ats was on its last leg but real issue is that the Gen is putting out 120 volts but at 250 hz so now it’s going to the Cummings shop to get that fixed
Thanks for the post
