Propane tank knob stuck

Hi y’all, no action here since COVID when we stocked Zoom Zoom as an isolation ward. Thankfully this was not needed. But as we replace the expired food and check systems, we find the propane knob stuck (closed position). Even with channel lock pliers carefully applied, hubby couldn’t turn it. Is there a trick to this? Hoping to get back on the road soon.

I by 'knob' you mean the Service/Vapor Valve on the Propane Tank you should be able to operate it by hand ---no tools required

Are you sure the Valve is not already Open??
OR
If Closed ---turning it the wrong way?

Standard valve.......righty/tighty (close) & lefty/loosey (open)

In addition to Old-Biscuits excellent advice above, once you are sure it is stuck and not that you are turning it the wrong way, lightly tap on the stem while trying to turn it. That may break it free.

After you determine if the valve is open/closed and it needs rebuilding, this is how it's made and repair parts to order.

You could always stop by a propane dealer with it and have them take a look at it. Worst case would be replacing it and they could suck the tank dry before switching out the valve.
