Question about Atwood water heaters

We are new to this and had a question about the hot water heater.
Ours is a 2014 Starcraft that runs off gas/electric. We have a switch for gas but not electric. Does it automatically run off of electric till you turn the gas on?

The water gets really hot in the sink. To the point it could scald you. We can take quick showers, turn the water off while lathering and still run out of hot water. Is this normal if we have the gas switch on?

Sorry if it's a crazy question, like I said, we are new to this.

Please post the model # of the unit. It's found by opening the outside access door to the water heater.

Even with model number, you may or may not have a switch for the electric side of the WH. That is up to the installing company.
You may have a 120VAC "light switch" style switch. Or, you may not have anything but the breaker.

You have to turn on and turn off both heat sources; gas and elec. It doesn't know that one or the other is on.

I can't answer the electric/gas question but I can say that RV water heaters do heat to a higher temp-about 140- so you can add cold water to stretch the hot water supply longer.

The reason I ask the model # is that their unit may in fact not have a combination LPG/ELEC model installed. It would be frivolous looking for an electric switch that cannot exist.

Thanks. It's a little frustrating b/c it was advertised as gas/electric. Even had the tag hanging inside and we were told during the walk through that most new campers had it and it was a nice function to have.

Oh well. Thanks for answering!

If it was a GC6 then it would be a combination LPG and electric. The letter C is the determining factor. If they sold it to you as a combination then I would be making some phone calls to them.

Regardless of type of fuel used to heat the water six gallons of hot water should give you a decent shower, not enough to stand under a hot stream for a half hour but enough to get clean. It sounds like something is going on with either the shower mixer or if you have a outside shower check to make sure it is turned off if left on they Will mix cold with the hot. That model hwh should have a temperature setting at or near the pilot light have you checked the setting on it?

We do have an outside shower but never used it. We haven't checked the setting. We are very new to this and have only camped once. So we are learning. I do know the water gets really hot.
