Question about Xantrex Inverter and Freedom Remote Control

I couldn't get my inverter to work so I removed the Freedom remote from the wall and checked the plug and it was plugged in and then I checked the inverter and the phone cord was plugged into the inverter. Still no control on the remote.

I then unplugged and replugged in the remote again and the only light that came on the remote was the one on the charge button. It stayed solid and didn't blink and then turned off about 30 seconds later. No matter what buttons I push on the remote I cannot get any lights to come on the remote unless I unplug it and re-plug it in.

If I go to the inverter directly and press invert then the TV works with the generator off so I know the inverter is working but I would like to get the remote working in the coach.

Now another thing, my main panel in the motorhome has a switch that says Inverter On/Off and when I plug the cord into that I still cannot control the inverter.

Any ideas?

Here is the panel:

Inverter I have is the Freedom 458

Is the fluid level in your batteries ok and are the batteries charged?

It sounds like you are not connected to shore power as you mentioned when you hit the invert button you can run your TV. I would connect to shore power and see if the panel works.

Here is the manual for the panel:

http://www.xantrex.com/documents/Dis...A(Artwork).pdf

Your panel may be in Low Power Mode, which turns off the lights on the front panel. Depress and briefly hold down the Invert Button and see if the display returns to normal.

If that does not work, try disconnecting from shore power and start the engine in your motorhome. If the panel suddenly works your batteries are dead and the inverter and panel will not work until you have charged them to some degree.

I have had the same problem with my inverter. I just unplugged both cables (like phone jacks) from the inverter and wait 30 seconds to a minute. Make sure inverter is in sleep mode or off before doing so. Re connect both cables and throw breakers off and on and repower inverter with shore power or generator.

We just replaced our old 1500 watt Xantrex and remote panel just like that with a 3000 watt pure sine Xantrex with a new remote panel.

Several reasons we had to replace. One being the microwave was not sized correctly to what the inv could handle. Two being is it was starting to not work itself. Wires were not staying connected inside the inv. Thom had to re-connect wires several times inside, finally we just bit the bullet and got one that we could then expand the solar and stuff on.

More than likely the remote control circuit board inside the inverter is going to be the problem. This has been a fairly common issue with these. The inverter and remote panel can be sent out and repaired for mush less than replacing the whole system. Good luck and keep us posted.
