To run my R. O. water system I bought a Shurflo 5.7 pump. Being a variable speed pump, it runs at low speed when little water is needed and faster as the demand increases. As you can imagine, when the R. O. system needs water it'll run at a very slow speed and almost never stop, pulling a lot of current and wear on the pump. So I bought an accumulator, thinking the pump would cycle and thus not operate on a continuous basis.

Now I find from Shurflo that this accumulator is not recommended since the pump will never shut down...always trying to push a small amount of water into the R. O. filter system. I want to get more info from Shurflo, but the Cust. service guy doesn't "speaka da English" too well.

Has anyone come across this problem and have a solution? I presume a constant speed pump might be the answer, but since I have this pump I wonder if there is another option for hooking it up.
