Could someone tell me why the RCA TV would not turn on or off by using the button on the front panel. To do anything with the TV I would have to use the remote. I was told it got like that when the electric went out in the park.

As you know already these are run of the mill tv's.I had to replace my bedroom tv 2 times. My dealer is still waiting for me to mail the remote control back . The on/off button on mine have to be pushed in for a few seconds before they work. You may have experienced a spike.IMHO they arent worth fixing. When I get around to it I am putting my 32" flat screen in the front.

HERE is a link to a recent discussion by one iRV2 member who replaced his TV with an LCD TV. The post has photos, good discussion, and diagrams.

The front tv is on a winch system. If you look in the right video cabinet , on the cieling you will see a small plastic round cover.Under it you will see a nut.Turning that nut lowers the tv.You will first need to pull the back cover ,behind the tv console.Once that is off,you will see where the support screws hold the tv in place.Remove those and lower the tv.Follow paz's link for a good write up on lcd install. The bedroom tv is a lot easier. On either side are cabinets. In those cabinets are cover plates.Take those off and look inside. You will see that the tv is mounted to a square of plywood , which in turn is screwed to the bottom of the cabinet. Mine had 2 screw on each side.Remove them and jimmy the tv out with the plywood. The plywood is attached with 4 screws right into bottom of tv.Nice piece of engineering there. I just love to take things apart

Thanks Paz and Frankie for the replies. When the TV goes out for good I would take this challenge.

When purchasing a new television be quite sure it has a digital tuner. Stores are trying hard to sell TV's with analog tuners right now. The don't actually lie, they just don't say anything about the tuner. After Feb 19, 2009 analog tuners will not process a signal in the U.S.A.
