Rear camera hookup

I had to scrap the orig b&w Voyager camera in my 07 Bounder and bought a Rear View Camera System, 770613N. It comes with camera, monitor and multiplexer. I want to spliced the old camera wiring to the new system, but don't want to over think the process. It seems to me that you should only need to match the power, ground and camera wire from one end of the coach to the front and by splicing. You should be able to use any wires in the old cable, as long as the connections at each end match each other......right?
Can't make any mistakes here since I'll be cutting off the factory connectors and throwing out the warranty.

did you remove the old camera and see the connections yet? You can use the old cabling but what was the old monitor. was it a sony bw. if so you may find a problem with the connector plug.

It was a Voyager camera and yes I know what the connector plugs look like, that's why I'm going to splice instead of using the connectors.

I replaced my old Voyager system with the RVS 770613N system a year ago. I switched some factory wires around in the power plug to the multiplexer and was able to use it. I considered splicing wires in the cable between the camera and the monitor but decided to run the new cable RVS provided instead. The Voyager system uses four wires between the camera and the monitor, the RVS system uses a five wire cable. I understand the camera/monitor connection will work using only four wires. I don't remember what is sacrificed when making that choice. Also, the very small diameter wires used in the cable did not make me overly enthusiastic about splicing and soldering them. The 66 foot camera to monitor cable supplied was more than sufficient and routing the cable down the back, along the frame and into the "cab" and dash was not difficult. I installed that corrugated plastic protective covering on as much of the cable as I could along the underside of the coach. I have a post in the archives on my job and pictures in the photo gallery documenting my replacement job.

Thanks Fleetman
I started on the project yesterday and came to the same conclusions about using the provided cable.
