Reefer light question

The problem I am having is that the light won't come on until I manually flick the switch a few times. I expect I can fix it if I can get to the switch. Can someone tell me how to remove the light/switch box from the wall? It feels like it is snapped on, I just don't want to damage it.
Thanks.

If your fridge is like mine the light cover ( lens) slides straight back toward the back of the refridgerator. A make and model would be helpful.

I assume you are talking about the interior light/switch. not an indicator light in the panel above the refrigerator doors?

On the light/switch fixture in my refrigerator the clear lens can be removed from the white plastic light/switch housing.
Once the lens is off you can see the two screws holding the fixture to the sidewall/liner of the fridge, (as well as the male wire connectors plugged into the female connectors in the fridge wall/liner).

Hopefully yours is the same.

Pls excuse the bad humor but by my username I did grow up in Ballard (Seattle Scandinavian community 60 years ago) and I yust couldn't resist making this Scandinavian post. After all we Scandinavians may be the only ethnic group that can be the subject of bad jokes. Of course there are people in North Dakota and Minneapolis making money publishing Scandinavian jokes).

I have gotten a lot of good info from irv2 since I joined a couple of months ago - please keep up the good work.

Thanks for the info. Removing the lamp cover, I could not see the screw until I removed the shelf to put my head far enough in to see it.

Someone in another thread suggested putting a smartphone camera in video record mode and putting it in the fridge to check the light. I wish I had thought of that. You wouldn't believe how many bags of dog treats it took to teach Smedley to bark once for light, twice for dark.

FYI, I took the light/switch assembly off, jiggled the wire connections, and put it back together. Works perfectly. I hate the ones where it gets fixed and you don't know exactly why.

A quick spray of WD40 into the switch, and it works fine. WD40 is a moisture displacement product, and this is one of the very few times I recommend it's use.
