Something along that line that caused the problem.

Screws on inside back of freezer which draws cooling tubes tight against the freezer were loose. Rkl

I had a short lived thread on RV habits - hip bump to bay doors to assure they are latched. And the almost neurotic pushing of fridge and freezer doors to make sure they are latched shut. We both walk past the fridge and push the doors closed all the time. Was it unmatched?? - they look closed even unlatched. And there is no buzzer or light to warn you.

When I'm camping I can gently close my fridge or freezer door and within a second, the latch snaps closed.

Ok, you suffered long enough. Those that suggested a door or gasket were dead on.

The first issue was finding the Freezer at 43 degrees while the refer was at 33. Food was soft in the freezer.

Grandson had not closed the door firmly. Probably went about 24 hours that way.

The door was closed and the temps went back down to the normal 1 degree. Then in a couple of days the temps started going up. At some point in time the ice maker stopped dumping ice. No error codes were showing.

Nothing obvious inside but some extra frost build up.

Pulling the manual and reading it closely led me to "ice build up and fan not running inside", in the troubleshooting section.

Along the right side of the freezer is a tray with a defrost wire that I recently had to replace so I stuck my fingers in there and it was clear. However, putting my fingers upward inside that area found a solid sheet of ice.

Ah, HA! No air flow over the coils and hence the temps were not getting down low enough for the ice maker to function. Even though the temp readout on the front showed 15 the ice maker was not getting the cold air it needed.

The choice at this time was to defrost the freezer or just put it in manual defrost mode. Being lazy and curious I put it into the manual defrost mode. In a couple of hours the temp began lowering. Over night it was around 11 but ice was not making. Feeling inside the plastic area once again found thick ice. Two more times of manually defrosting and the ice maker started dumping ice and the coils were almost totally void of ice.

So, in short, leaving the door open enough to allow the moist air in let the coils build ICE and the fan inside could not circulate cold air. The normal automatic defrost mode was just not enough to get rid of that huge build up.

Thanks for playing along. I hope this helps someone in the future.

As I posted, I can gently close the fridge or freezer door and when the warm air allowed in when it was open collapses, it sucks the doors all the way closed and the latches click. My buddies Sea Breeze LX does the same.

During my summer down time, I check that the doors are cracked open almost every time I go in my MH.

My Norcold 1210RIM does not do that. If we close them gently they seem closed. But, if you push them again, they move in slightly and you hear them latch. This happens with all doors. There is also a moveable plastic piece that slide out and hold the doors cracked slightly open when turned off. We don't use them. Just open em wide - wipe er down until next time. We did use the open slide a time or two but I'm afraid it might get broken, and those doors being what they are - I don't want to break anything on them.

So what kind of fridge is this - and if I recall - you have commented on the physics behind the vacuum before. Apparently physics are suspended in my coach.

Well Yuba City - thanks for the game. Next time - dollar values are doubled.

Dometic 2 door. Fridge and freezer. Last season latch that is the handle and also the thingie that clicks, parted company. Found one at my RV shop. They're not cheap.

Don't remember the physics comments, but then again, there are a lot of things I don't remember.

I'll find another fun one for everyone to chase. I have had some really fun times tracking gremlins.
