Replacing Slide motor
Time to replace the main slide motor on my 2002 Eagle. Do I replace it with the slide fully open, closed or open just a few inches?

Wherever it's easiest to access the motor/gearbox. Shouldn't matter where the slide is position...as long as you keep the gears and tracks the same.
I've only replaced my BR slide motor unit....and in that case I had the slide fully extended for ease of access. Good luck.

Access is wide open whether it is open or closed. I guess I am wonder if fully extended, will there be pressure on the slide motor trying to keep it fully opened. I guess I can always use the manual crank if I need to ease off the pressure.

There’s always some pressure on it as that’s what the electromechanical brake is for no matter what position.

The way I did it: Extend a few inches, release the brake, use a big wrench to get the tension off the slide motor shaft, remove the old, put in the new.

Put the slide out about 3 inches. Took out old motor and put in new motor. Had the brake off so I could insert the drive shaft and then spin the motor to align with the mounting holes. Bolted it up.
Took all of about 2 minutes. I wish all my repairs were this easy.
