RV500 tankless water heater spraying water

This is on a 2011 Tiffin a Phaeton. Not the PA in my signature.

The heater was working fine. Then yesterday the water pump started running continuously. Found the reason. Whenever water is on, water sprays out the access panel / grill of the RV500 tankless water heater. Removed the access panel and appears to be coming from what I think is the flow meter unit. The white circular part in the pictures attached. Is there supposed to be a cover or other on the flow gizmo, or is there something missing?

Is there a way to turn off the water to the heater as a workaround? We can get along without hot water for the time being. I tried the bypass in the wet bay. No change.

Update - I spoke with Gary at PresisionTemp, a new flow meter and heat pad are now coming my way via overnight shipping. The temperature switch sticks, causing the flow meter housing to overheat and deform, causing a leak. As for the water heater bypass not bypassing, Gary says this is a not uncommon problem for Tiffin's to have...

Update -

Received and installed flow meter and heat pad. No more water spraying everywhere, this is a good thing.
However, no hot water - no burner firing - red light flashing twice. Service manual says two flashes is one of the temp sensors error, but should operate anyway.

I have a shout out to PrecisionTemp to see what they say.

Gary at PrecisionTemp has us with hot water again. The mid thermistor is bad. He advised a workaround untill a new thermistor arrives.

Did you install this yourself? I'm currently considering going tankless.
