RVP MACH 8 three blade quiet fan - Want to hear from anyone with cracking fan blades

This is in regard to the "quiet" fan upgrade kit for the Coleman/RVP/Airxcel MACH 8 low profile units.

After 5 months in use my front AC fan catastrophically failed, two weeks later the rear AC fan did the same. Upon inspection the middle AC unit fan is showing stress cracks where the fan blades meet the bottom of the hub.

On the Entegra forums several others have had the same issue. Talked to RVP and they were very responsive and will be beefing up the fan design. However, according to the engineer there only 2 or 3 people have reported the failure. I suspect there may be a lot more that have had or will have the problem.

If you have inspected your Coleman/RVP/Airxcel MACH 8 3 blade "quiet" fans and found them to have stress cracks developing please report your findings on this thread. Post photos if you can. Also post the part number of your fan which will be 1472x504 where "x" will be either an A, B or C. I will make sure the RVP design folks get a link to this thread.

If your fans have well developed cracks you can probably see them without removing the AC unit shroud (and should probably stop using that unit until you get a replacement), but to check for cracks in the early stages you will need to remove the shroud and fan blade (photos here and here). You will need a Torx T-25 screwdriver bit. The cracks will appear where the blade edges meet the bottom of the hub. Small cracks will eventually become large cracks and the blades will come off.

I have the same coach. No issues as of yet, but let me know how this all shakes out for you...
