Samsung Refrigerators
We're going to change our frig, 15 yrs old and put a Samsung frig in. We have a 2003 Allure, 3 slides. Looking at the track record of the Samsung RF18, leaves me with some doubts of the quality of this frig. Looked at the Samsung 221 and lots of problems with that model also. So does anyone have some suggestions as to another brand of refrigerators?

When our Norcold died, the Home Depot in Flagstaff, AZ recommended against purchasing a Samsung refrigerator from them because they said there was no one in Arizona who would service them. I don't know if that is true or not but they actively persuaded me to buy something else. I ended up with a Haier (the old GE) refrigerator and we are very happy with it.
In addition, I was lacking less than an inch of fitting the Samsung (vertically) without significantly more work because of the furnace under the refrigerator, so that also steered me to something other than the Samsung.

GE possibility
I am having the same doubts and found this well reviewed GE model but not sure it will fit. It’s an 18.6 cf model but is just under 33 inches wide. Check out the Monaco owners thread for my post and model number

We recently purchased a 2003 Country Coach, which has a Samsung RF18 in it. It was installed by Premier Motor Coach in Tuscon. So far, so good and has tons of space and a good freezer. Are there better, don't know. Power wise is the question, with the 2K inverter and a fully charged battery bank and most all else off, it gets through the night fine. The debate on these is current draw, 1-2 amps or 6+. My electrician buddy has the same one in his RV and measured his and mine both drawing 1-2 amps. The 6+ opinion is there as well.

We have the Samsung 18CF model. Actually it is our second as the first failed on our first trip. It has served us well so far. Just be aware that you may need a counter depth unit.

After much research I found out that Samsung came out with a newer model of the RF18. The new one, the AC plug comes out the bottom. Also there is nothing on the top to hinder sliding it into a tight area. I'll keep you posted on my adventure.

They are shallower than a normal fridge. Same depth as the counters.

Be advised that the fridge should be anchored to the back wall.

A couple of ways to go here. You can use the inverter that is currently installed or you can install a dedicated inverter. If you go the dedicated route, I'd look for a PSW unit of 700 watts or more.
Remember that it takes 10 amps of DC to produce 1 amp of AC but your residential only uses approx 3 amps and not on a continuous basis

I also have a freezer down below, it's a 2.8 cu. Should I go up in size on the Inverter?

Someone has probably done the math on this draw, haven’t been down that road yet. But what bothers my math is anywhere from $400 to Tiffin option of $2400 what is the [yea get what you pay for] math in this price spread? With the 4 batts minimum on coach.

If you need a counter depth unit for your installation, I can pretty much guarantee that the Samsung is the only affordable one on the market. For some reason counter depth fridges are considered "specialty" units and are usually very high priced.
We've had our Samsung for nearly 8 years without any problems. IMO any brand can have a lemon and the people most likely to write reviews are those who are unhappy.
In our case, we had to have a counter depth unit and I didn't really care what the reviews were. The fridge is so inexpensive compared to the piece of junk Norcold that I can afford to replace it a couple of times, if need be, and still be ahead financially.
