servicing refrigerators/furnaces, etc.

Just wondering how many RVer's service their refrigerators, furnaces, hot water heaters, etc. and if you do.....how often do you have this done? I am meaning by a regular RV service center.

Addendum to previous question....I DO myself check all these from time to time to make sure there's nothing needing fixed. But I have never taken it in to a service professional.

I just look and clean. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Same as my appliances in my town home.

All ways maintained myself on many coach's and trailers. If you do spring & fall cleaning should not need service.
We have plenty of links for maintenance do a search here or Google or use a RV maintenance book.

I do it all myself. I don't see paying someone $100.00 per hour to do something wrong that I can easily do right.

lack of use is the WORST, when your not travelin, drive the coach frequently, fire up the appliances, keep them going for a short time. Dormency invites trouble!
Run the Gen, Raise & lower the levelers.
If you didn't move Your joints theyd seize up too!

I originally posted this question, because our RV refrig was on the norcold recall. We were not aware of the recall until our unit started beeping and quit working. When investigating different sites to try to diagnose the problem and see approximately what it would cost to fix; I came across the recall. Well, our unit was on the recall list. Further checking everything out behind the cover outside to my frig; I found burnt wires, charred and smoldering insulation, and the outside cover had started to melt and bubble. We were lucky in that we were here to catch it before our RV caught fire. Anyway, while talking to a Norcold representative about this....she asked me when was the last time we had it serviced? I am under the same opinion you all are; why would you have something serviced that had been working good? I always checked things on it and kept it cleaned out myself. So, was just wondering if any RVer's out there ever had theirs serviced?

No never had service because like I said would service myself.
When I bought my MH the fridge did not cool on gas and dealer wanted to pull it out and replace it. Why I said because they couldn't get it working, it worked on electric but they said wouldn't work on gas.
Went camping on weekend and place fridge on AUTO and before I got to campground the gas was working and has been working for 7 years.
So much for dealer they lost Newmar franchise.
Went to Newmar this past January and had recall done and got $50 gas fee from Norcold.
I'd get your recall done at authorized Norcold dealer as soon as possible, do not use per their recall notice.

Some manufacturers state in their warranty that annual inspection and cleaning must be performed by a professional to maintain their 3 year warranty. Norcold is one.
