Stay N Play Duo

I have a Stay N Play Duo for a brake controller. I have had the same unit on three toads. When the unit is off and I am not towing, I sometimes get a heated electrical smell. It is not continuous and does not produce the smell at all times. Anyone have an ideas?

Stay and Play Duo

I have the same unit, have not noticed what you describe. Contact SMI? I should contact them to find out why such a doofus name for a competent and functional system.

Are you sure the smell is coming from the Stay and Play? You do know after towing it is common to smell a burning rubber or electrical smell until the road debris burns off your toad exhaust system. This smell only lasts a few miles. Just a thought.

Well, I'll be danged! We have these smells and could not find out why. Exactly as you described. You are a genius! Thanks!

Can't take credit for discovery. First time I drove the toad after towing I thought I had an electrical fire. No smoke just smell and could not find the cause. Found the answer on this Forum.
