Suburban furnace fan noise

I have a Suburban sf-25f furnace that emits a screech noise that is high and loud enough to be painful. My son heard it and said he had one that sounded the same (brand unknown) and he replaced the the motor which cured it.
I removed the unit from the wall and checked for mechanical interference with the fan and found good clearance at all points of potential contact. I then removed the motor and fan assembly from the housing and ran it hand held and it was nice and quiet.
Input please.

The motor armature runs on bronze bushings , surrounded by a oil soaked felt.
Removing and changing the position of the motor from it's normal run position, may have allowed some of the oil left in the felt to soak into the bronze bushing and quieting the noise.
You can carefully drill the outer part of the housing and re-soak the felt .
BY CAREFULLY ; I mean , allowing the drill bit to hook the felt can ball up the felt and render it useless.
I've done this on 3 of my 5 RVs as the furnace ages , with good results.
Mark the motor so your drilling from the top , soak with a few drops of oil and wait before applying more drops , 6 times in 48 hours worked for me. Plug the drilled hole with silicone sealant and reinstall the motor.
Alternative is a new motor .
