Suburban SH42 4" round cover

2004 Winnebago heater went way bad, noise and vibration, so I shut it off. We were on the way home and we have a small electric heater.
I removed the heater and found the bracket for the fan shroud broken because a small mouse, really a bag of bones, was in the squirrel cage. When I removed the heater I found one 4" round laying under the heater. The heater has two missing. Ever since we have had this MH the heat coming to the front was very week. One hole in the heater blows heat into the return so it needs to be covered, maybe the heat will blow to the front better now. The other hole looks like it goes into a small ( 1 1/2 ") space that doesn't look like it goes anywhere. Do I need another 4" cover or does that go to the wet bay or somewhere it needs to go? The back of the heater is off and the air goes straight into the duct work.

That sounds really weird. Could you take and post some pictures?

Installation Instructions

Installation instructions require 4 four inch ducts be open. See page 3 of Installation instructions.
https://techsupport.pdxrvwholesale.c...ber-2530-C.pdf

Furnace requires enough air flow to keep the heat exchange output temperature below Over-temp cutoff switch.

Also, the space the open duct opens into may contain plumbing that requires heat to keep from freezing.

You may be able to run another duct from one of the open holes to an area near the bedroom.

If you do not understand, you should find a qualified furnace service. Mistakes can cause the furnace to stop working or worse.

The end of the heater is open to the duct work, that's 17" X 9" , that is enough air flow. Two 4" covers were on the furnace and two were missing. I found one cover under the furnace and I plug it on the open hole that put heated air into the return. I must have come off when everything vibrated. I welded the bracket , resealed and tightened the burner fan and replaced the last half of the exhaust tube that was showing signs of old age. The heater works fine, my only question is where does the small duct work on the passenger side of the heater go and is that cover missing or not there intentionally.

I don't know if this will help, but here is a link to the flanges that connect to the round cutouts if you want to add another duct. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B003G9FMR8 I used one to add a short additional duct to my Suburban furnace a couple of years ago.

I agree with Yeloduster. Please post some pictures.

My TT had a 2" flexible duct from a 4" diameter hole in the furnace to a 2" hole in the floor to heat the belly. There was an adapter in the 4" hole to the 2" duct.
