Suburban sw6d water heater won't stay lit

Have 2004 suburban SW6D water heater in our MH. When I turn on the switch inside the igniter sparks and the gas ignites. But as soon as the igniter stops the heater goes off about 5 seconds later tries again and once again when the spark igniter stops it goes out. I have tried many times and the heater just won't stay.

Looking for anyone who has had a similar issue how to fix it. Hopefully it it is a simple remody.

The burner or the pilot will not stay lit?

How far did you get troubleshooting with the service manual?

There is no pilot if this is actually an SW6D. That is a DSI ignitor.

Either it is the ignitor/flame sensor, wire, or the board not sensing correctly. Make sure the connection on the ignitor is good.

From the service manual, this fault most likely points to a faulty thermocouple.

Dirty, out of posistion or bad flame sensor or bad control module. When unit sparks and then lights its still sending a small current using the flame to complete the circuit, its called flame rectification. If the flame rod gets loaded up with junk it cant sense. I would clean it first and make sure it is posistioned correctly, if that does not fix it I would replace the flame rod (least expensive) If no joy then get a new module.

Good Luck
Hopefully its dirt

Turned out to be the board. Replaced and it fires up like new. Thanks for all the great ideas.
