Surge guard 30 amp

Question; when I plug into 20 amp at home all lights are green. As soon as I turn on refer reverse polarity turns red. What causes this. Thanks Steve

A missing ground can fool the device into thinking polarity is reversed.

Check the outlet you are plugged into and the end of the extension cord for proper "polarity" and continuity.
