Surge Protector

I have a 30amp SurgeGuard power protection model #34730. Everything works ok,but it makes a buzzing sound all the time it is in use. I have a few friends that have the 50amp and that dont make any noise. Anyone tell me if the noise is normal? Thanks

Welcome to irv2 blji.
My 50 does not buzz, you have a 30 amp service right?
All connections are tight if a hard wire install and try it in a different outlet not a GFI outlet.

This seems to be a common problem among both Progressive and Surge Guard (and there are several threads on this). It's the relay coil buzzing and has noting to do with integrity of the wiring. Some do it, most don't.

Contact TRC and see if they will exchange it for you. No guarantee but it is worth a try. Otherwise, it should still function OK.

I have the 50 amp portable from surge guard and no noise at any time. Doesn't matrter if I am pluged into 15,30, or 50 amp lines.

It's not what service you are plugged into, it's just that you are powering up a 110VAC 60Hz coil, and some of them hum worse than others.
