Thermostat Blinking, Furnace Noises, Electrical Pop
Hi, I'm a long time lurker, first time poster. I noticed a couple days ago that my Coleman RVComfort Thermostat kind of blinks or fades for just a moment, and it has started skipping the number 42 (it skips from 41 to 43 degrees). This morning, I'm noticing that my furnace is making a bit of noise, not sure if rattle is the right word, it's probably a softer noise than a rattle. Kind of hard to describe. The noise is most noticeable when it's turning off. Just before it kicks off, there's kind of a thunk. The furnace does turn on, it heats things up, and it turns off, but this noise is new. Could there be a connection between the thermostat and the furnace? Would a thermostat about to go bad cause the furnace to make noise?
The following may or may not be related (I hope not). I did have a small pop when I plugged in to shore power at my house the other day. I've found out that my shore power plug's positive connection is loose. Could that have fried something in the RV, causing the thermostat and furnace issues?
One more thing - when stripping the wire on the shore plug (the ground and negatives are too long to allow the positive to stay in place), would you simply disconnect from shore power, or would you take extra precautions like disconnecting the house batteries? Thank you.
