Thetford Aqua Magic Residence Style II

Anyone got any experience with these?

My GF knocked the pedal off the side tonight cleaning in prep for a trip this weekend. After watching a video online from Thetford, I am realizing that there is a small plastic "catch" that holds the spring into place. I find it hard to believe that little piece (which is broken/missing on mine) holds that spring!

I attached pics...
Guess I'll be calling Jayco to see about getting a replacement before Friday's trip.

I would get rid of the toilet. It's nice, but a cheap design on the pedal. It just snaps into place, and once the grooves wear out, you're out of luck and need a new toilet anyway.
If the tab on the base is gone, you need a new toilet, again.

I agree that this toilet is pretty cheap...especially after seeing this design flaw. But I am thinking about trading RV's soon anyway, so I don't want to put undo $$ into it.

I was thinking about putting a screw here (see yellow arrow in pic) to make a temp fix until warranty replacement?? What do ya'll think? Will it work?

New toilet picked up yesterday from Camping World, covered under warranty. Replaced it last night...all good!

Time to go camping!! As soon as I can get out of work today!

Major Design Flaw

This is a MAJOR design flaw in these Style II toilets. The small plastic tab that's supposed to hold the spring arm is just a complete piece of crap. I'd like to take the engineer that designed this thing into a dark alley and just beat them until he can't cry anymore!

I'm going to have to replace my entire toilet because of this tiny piece of plastic. Once it fails, it is completely impossible to reinstall the pedal when it pops off - which it will absolutely do, because the spring retainer piece of plastic failed!

Putting this thing back together is a pain in the butt anyway but, when the little retainer piece of plastic gives up, you're done. Just quit trying. Buy a new toilet. I sure wish there was a better alternative to these Thetford idiots because I'd never buy another one of their products if I had a choice.

Did I say that I think Thetford sucks? And yes, I'm trying to get a lot of hits, and maybe some attention from Thetford when I say that Thetford is really had the worst design engineers ever. If Thetford had any real sense of corporate responsibility, then Thetford would recall this sorry design and replace all our toilets with something reliable.

I hate Thetford toilets!

Thetford toilets in general are fine, but that one for sure is weak.

Their response from tech support (which are great btw) was it was supposed to look nice, but not be used heavily.
