Three way switch under kitchen cabinets?

Three way 120vac switch under the kitchen cabinets. What does it do? One way powers the microwave, the other two positions turns off the microwave and does what???

I have another similar switch at the circuit breaker box in the bedroom. This one diverts power from the microwave to the washer/dryer, and a third position I dunno what it does either...

Coach info in my sig.

Appears the one in the kitchen does much the same as the one in the bedroom. Selects between water heater / microwave / laundry. Not sure of why two switches that appear to provide the same function, nor their interaction if any.

They have to be wired together somehow if they provide the same function, but not sure how.

Could it be for an inverter so you could choose one or another object with the inverter.
