Toilet Leaks From Back While Flushing

We noticed our second toilet leaks from the top of the back when the toilet is being flushed. There is a plastic piece on the back of the toilet where the water goes into the toilet (not sure what it's called). Water appears to be coming out of the top of the plastic piece. I've attached a picture and circled where the water is coming from. Does anyone know if this can be fixed, or do I need to purchase a new plastic piece (again, not sure what it's called)?

That would be the Vacuum Breaker
When you flush/open water supply valve water flows up into the vacuum breaker ---water pressure closes the flapped/valve at top...water then flows into bowl
When done flushing vacuum breaker flapper/valve opens allowing water in vacuum breaker to flow into bowl and cover the seal

Flapper/valve not fully seating...water leaks out top hole

Old Biscuit is correct. You can change that out without taking the toilet out. It just pushes in through a rubber grommet and you disconnect the hoses, connect the hoses and push the new one in. A little silicone spray helps it go in easier.

First time I had one go bad I was like oh man this is going to be a job. Nope. took me longer to find the silicone spray than anything else.

I think they are about $45?

How common is it for a brand new one to leak? My trailer was built in May of this year. It started leaking the first night I used it. At first it would only leak maybe every second or third time you flush the toilet. Then maybe it wouldn't leak all day and maybe once in the evening. Never leaves much, just enough to leave a spot anywhere from quarter size to a half dollar size or a little more on the floor and be annoying. Maybe it just needs more exercise? Any suggestions are appreciated.

New.........construction debris is causing flapper to not fully seal

Remove it.....clean it..reinstall it

Are you using City Water Connection/Supply with regulator OR fresh water tank and pump?

Low water pressure can be an issue with them. When mine first started leaking I was at the RV park in Mexico. Can you say 1 hour to fill your fresh water tank! Turned the pump on so I got 40 psi and it stopped.

It did finally leak no matter what. If it's brand new and leaking scream and yell at the dealer, right in their sales showroom. They will have a tech replace it while you wait.
