I know some of you want to switch from Trace/Magnum to Victron inverters but have been not moving due to the VE bus Ethernet rj45 cable requirements.
Although Victron uses rj45 they only use wires 2-7 1 and 8 are unused so in my last project I used a RJ12/11 6P6C 6-PIN FEMALE to RJ45 CAT5 ETHERNET 8P8C 8PIN MALE NETWORK ADAPTER and it worked flawlessly.
I did need to un-"roll" one end of the existing 6 wire "phone" line but other than that it just works.
This is a link to the adapter that I purchased but looking at it I see it would be easy to make myself with 6 wire phone cable and a RJ11/12 end and a RJ45 end. Just don't use pins 1 and 8. When you make your cable you could roll it so you don't have to fix the rolled cable in place now.
