Turn off the 110V/propane fridge when storing for a few weeks or leave on?

My last class C RV had to have the fridge replaced, and the guy that did the work said they will last much longer if not run 24/7. We now have a class A that we use occasionally and it is a pain for the fridge to not be cooled down when we jump in it for the weekend-would prefer to leave the fridge running. Thoughts?

Thanks for your help!

Hello and Welcome to the forum!
Mine is turned on in April, and runs 24/7 till November when it is done being used for the season. We did not even have to defrost it this year.........
Think of all the full timer's, permanent campers, and so on, theirs run 24/7 also, a ton of them 365 days a year. Just my take on your question.

I think as others do, that they last longer when they have fewer on/off cycles.

Unless you can monitor it when in storage, you might want to leave everything off, then just power up a day or two before you travel to cool the fridge down. Our friends left theirs powered up 24/7 a couple of years ago. They went back to their storage barn after a few weeks and found the converter had boiled the batteries dry, losing 12v power and shut everything down. They had some frozen food stored in the fridge and it took them a month to get the smell out. It also cost them a new converter and two new batteries. I'm not a fan of leaving one powered up all the time unless you are in it or can monitor it closely.

Just my $0.02 worth, other opinions will vary.
