Upgrade from 4 to 5 button Dometic Tstat

I've searched this forum and think I have found some answers. Need some confirmation.....

My rig has 2 13.5k Dometic ACs (57915.622) to be exact. I have a 4 button Tstat now. All works fine except for those darn push buttons on the Tstat. They just don't always work right and especially when pressing both to switch from Zone 1 to 2 or visa versa. I have ordered some new buttons (push switches) and will see how long they last. I had the whole thing replaced last year with same problem and it cost over $100.

But, I may decide to go with the 5 button Tstat (CCC1) or the new CCC2 Tstat. If I go to either of these, I will have to also get a new control board kit (3312020.000) for each AC unit. That all adds up to over $300 for new Tstat and 2 kits.. And I will do it if these push buttons fail again.

Does the upgrade kit replace the entire "box" in the AC compartment and is there a one-for-one hookup of all the wiring?

It seems like I can reuse the existing "phone" wire connections between the Tstat and the 2 ACs that are already there. Is that correct?

I haven't found any detailed instructions on how to install the kits but I assume they are included with the kits. Would like to know these answers though before spending the $$.

Thanks,

John

I have found that when my "buttons" get cranky, the thing to do is to take it off of the wall and blow it out with canned air. This gets all of the dust and dirt out and they once again go to working.

The 4 button CCC is now obsolete, so it would be a good idea to go with the 5 button or CCC2 right now.

Either way, you use all existing wiring. You just replace the tstat and the 2 control boards. The kits may just contain the whole box the boards are installed in. Can't imagine taking over an hour to do the whole switch.
