Vent cover and Luggage door latch replacement

Also needing to be replaced from the last trip and the wind damage I ordered a new (pre 2008) Ventline vent cover for the 14x14 bathroom vent and for good measure ordered a new smoke vent cover for the big fan vent over the kitchen.

I was watching a video of how to install those, and I think it has to be done from inside. I have maxair vent covers over the vents and those I don't think have to be removed.

Also, saw a video on how to replace the door latch (right hand) on my basement utility bay door, looked pretty self explanatory.

Any comments on these two items? Vent lids or luggage door latches? What to watch out for? Do's and don't?

I may have to get SuperDave out to do that work....

Kent... I have not yet installed the vent cover....but i did replace almost all my latches. I bought the latches on Amazon....needed a drill to remove the latch rivets....unscrewed the cover on the inside door .....disconnected the latch push rod.... pulled off old rusty latch...installed new latch and rod as an assembly....and used a few big pop rivets again instead of the bolts. Easy...took about 20 min per latch to complete. NOTE.... lubricate latch before inserting with a dry lube or waterproof grease. You will get a better service life out of them. One guy dipped his in hot paraffin wax to help keep it from rusting. I had not thought of that but it seems like a direction to consider.

Mine is different. Its a pre-2008 Ventline.

Yes, I should have just ordered a whole new unit to install since the roof repair will require the old one to be removed anyway....I'm so dumb sometimes!
