Washer/dryer combo question

We are considering putting a washer/dryer combo in our Open Range fifth wheel. Because of the location of the hookups it cannot be vented out the side of the unit. According to the manual and after talking to the company it is made for a ventless dryer. If anyone could share thoughts about a ventless unit it would be helpful. From what I’ve read and seen on videos it causes a dampness problem and can get pretty nasty on the inside. I’m not sure it would be worth the money. Thanks in advance!

I cannot understand how they cannot vent it outside. There is bound to be a way to cut a hole near the drier to install a vent, if not through the side, maybe through the floor and out the basement. I'd check with some other smaller RV shops.

The ventless units do a really poor job of drying clothes and take forever. They use a small amount of fresh water in a small condenser so that water and any condensed moisture all goes to the gray tank.

Personally, I'd do without a washer/drier than go with a ventless. We love out vented Splindide 2100XC during our 8 years of full time living.

I agree with TXiceman! I'm betting there is a way to run an outside vent pipe!

Personally, I would not want a ventless system! JMHO

Thanks. I had pretty much decided it wasn't what we wanted but thought I’d see what people thought.

Actually, I was shocked at how much water the ventless ones use for drying. In an old training manual, Splendide said they use 5 gallons of water per hour of drying.

The ventless model of the newer 2100XC uses 2.5 gallons of water per hour of drying.

It's less than the older model, but still more than I would have thought.

And to the OP: They swear the ventless models don't add heat or humidity to the surrounding area. And actually, my vented model does do that sometimes, exhausting hot wet air through the detergent drawer. When I notice it doing it, I pour about 1/2 a cup of water in the drawer and it stops.

Owners Manual for the newer ventless model 7200XCD: http://www.splendide.com/downloads/WDC7200XCD_IOM.pdf

NO DRYER VENT
This appliance uses an internal water condenser to dry laundry. All humidity stays within the unit and is drained as water. NO heated or conditioned air is exhausted outside; NO exhaust vent is needed.

I've read of many people with newer ventless units that say they work fine.

FWIW,

Ray

Please tell us….. where would this unit be located that it cannot be vented? Could you relocate the hookups?
