My Atwood switch inside my trailer has the 2 switches for gas or electric HW. When does the red light illuminate on that switch plate ? Mine seems to be off all the time but when I test it with a jumper it works.

I would expect the red light should illuminate when you switch the gas or electric switch to the "I" position. If not, maybe the bulb is burned out?

As stated, it illuminates when a jumper is connected so the bulb is not burned out but I appreciate your help.

Camp CA is incorrect. That light is a fault indicator. It will light when the device can't light with propane.

I found this thread on another forum, which says it should be a fault light, unless the manufacturer decided to wire it differently.

Atwood Fault Light
*2004 Atwood went to a common DC control Logic

If GAS fails to ignite and PROVE it lit.....
3 attempts then 'lock-out ' and Fault Light comes on
Visual indication of failure

IF the ECO opens whether on GAS or ELECTRIC the Fault Light will come on
ECO opens at 180*F (t-stat failed to open at 140*F)....shuts down all heating sources, 'locks-out' and triggers Fault Light
*Even when on Electric there is a millivolt current to/thru ECO to gas valve to ground so that ECO is included in the temp control loop
**On GAS 12VDC to/thru ECO to gas valve so it drops DC to gas valve

To reset Fault Light/Lock-out condition
Turn On/Off Switch OFF, wait 30 seconds, turn back ON
**IF ECO has opened.....need to correct T-stat issue before using WH again


Suburban Fault Light...
Comes ON when you first turn GAS switch ON....then goes out when Gas ignites and PROVES it lit
Comes back on if Flame fails before t-stat opens

Gas on......Electric completely separte controls and has no Fault Light
