Water heater leak

What would make the water heater drip from the burner hole. The neighbor said a mobile tech checked it and said it was due to a replaceable part and then didn't come back to replace it.
It is a 10 gallon gas/electric on an 03 HR Ambassador.

No sure what type of water heater you have but probably an Atwood or a Suburban.

That water probably isn't coming from the burner hole as you put it, but more than likely leaking or weeping from the high pressure valve above it. Weeping a little water from the brass high pressure valve is common. Doesn't mean it's defective. You can do 1 of 3 things:
1) Go inside the coach a open any faucet on the hot side and that will relieve pressure from the water heater and the weeping/dripping will stop
2) Replace the brass high pressure valve - Home Depot
3) Re-establish the air pocket at the top of your water heater

Here are steps to re-establish the air pocket at the top of a Atwood water heater. I'm pretty positive the steps are the same on a Suburban
• Turn OFF main power supply to the water heater
• Turn water supply OFF
• Open nearest faucet Hot side to relieve system pressure...leave open
• Open High Pressure Valve by lifting the latch…hold open until water stops flowing out. CAUTION: Water will be HOT if recently heated
• Then close the High Pressure Valve latch
• Close faucet
• Turn water supply back on

Suburbans have been know to leak at welds on divider plate in the combustion chamber

If that is what is leaking ain't no 'replacement' parts. Welds penetration was too much when built
Tank is steel/glass-lined and are NOT replaceable....nor can be rewelded
Whole NEW water heater required

Not from inside the combustion chamber....
Is it from T&P as outlined in above post ----'weeping'

Is it at/around combustion chamber?
Then check for leaks on backside of water heater ....cracked fittings/pin holes ---they can cause leaking around the combustion chamber---pass the seal rings

It is dripping in the combustion chamber. No water leaking in coach or from relief valve. The drip is very slow at this point
He is going to have it replaced when he gets home in a couple of months.

So it is a Suburban and he is going to replace the whole unit...correct?
