Water pump keeps shutting off

I'm dry camping and the water pump keeps shutting off. Full of water, no leaks that I can find. Anyone have any ideas?

Just to clarify...

If you turn on a water faucet the pump starts and you get water but then while it is still suppose to be running the pump shuts down?

Sky_Boss asked the question I was going to, and I'll add .
How or when does the pump start again?

If your taking a shower it turns off 3 or 4 times and you have to turn the pump back on each time. Doesn't matter which sink or switch I use same results.

HMMM....thinking out loud...

When the pump shuts down, is it sudden or is there a measurable time period (even if it is a few seconds) of decreasing water pressure before shuts down?

Is the pump overheating and thus shutting down? This could indicate anything from a bad pump to running dry too long kicking in thermal protection.

Is the pump actually OFF? I would think that if it was still running "dry" you would still hear it but that could be something to double check.

If it is running dry that would seem to point towards either a bad pump to some kind of blockage from the fresh water tank.

If you suspect a bad pump, then you have the option to rebuild or replace. Personally, I went replacement last year but that is up to you.

Good Luck!

Does the pump also turn on when it is supposed to be off?

If so, you may have an intermittent short in one of the switches or the cable connecting them to the control unit. Another possibility is that the circuitry in the control unit is failing. Mine was about $45 to replace from Amazon.

It turns itself off quickly, hitting switch turns it back on instantly.

I hope it's not the obvious, a bad switch. Have you tried to bypass the switch so that is out of the loop? Does it still do it?

I have four switches in various places that control the pump, one outside, one in each bathroom and one by the kitchen. Using a different switch doesn't effect the outcome - still shuts down.

I started to think maybe the cold was effecting it as I'm at Bryce NP and it is dang cold! I've had the heat going to the basement but I turned the basement lights on for extra heat. After a few hours it's working now. No idea if that is a fluke or a solution. I'll let you know what happens. I have to say a huge thank you to all who responded. This forum rocks!

I think TwelveVolt has your answer - sounds like your controller. I had a similar problem and I just bypassed the controller until the new one arrived.

You might also want to check the filter on the input side of the pump,
