The 2200 watt output if impressive for the size and price. I hope the generator works well for you. It may take several years before the IGen2500 shows the same reliability record as the Hondas.

I bought a Honda EU2200 based on my experience with a Honda EU2000 that I have used for work running communications vault water pumps and ventilators since 2002. It is still going strong and very quiet.

"This generator can also power a 15,000 BTU air conditioner with ease"

I have a 13,500 A/C. Do you think it can start the A/C without any problems?

I am thinking of installing a soft (or is it hard) start.

Thanks

Trouble is the 110 receptacle is only 15 amp output which probably won't run your ac...unless is a small one

Thanks

I have never seen a 110 receptacle run 30 amps

I'm not a electrician, hang on and someone more experienced than I will chime in....but you even said your pigtail is 15 amp to 30

That pigtail only adapts your plugs....it don't turn a 15 Amp outlet to a 30 amp.....your still pulling 15 amps

That is a fact....like Bob said look for a generator with a 30 amp output

Just saying there are better options

Folks plug in to 15 amp home outlets regularly and run the AC.
Might not be able to run much else at the same time, but it should run the AC.

I agree with the others, that adapter does not make it produce 30 amps, it merely allows a 30 amp cable to plug in to the outlet.

Like I said, may run a small one, but for $550 there are better options

If not looking to run ac and just charge batteries it will work, but for the money there are better options
Help me understand that. This is what is says on the Home Depot site:

". This generator can also power a 15,000 BTU air conditioner with ease. "

Also, a lot of people have posted they ran their RV A/C with it.

https://www.westinghouseportablepowe...specifications

Model iGen2500
Starting Watts 2500
Rated Watts 2200
Peak Amps at 120V 20.8 amps
Running Amps at 120V 18.3 amps
AC Voltage 120 Volts

Thanks, yes I understand that the cable does not change the amps produced by the generator.

The issue with RV A/Cs is the starting amps needed vs the operating amps.
That is why some people add this.
