Personally neither my wife nor I wanted one and would rather have the storage although people that have them use them for storage anyway. Kind of like a gas oven, they make a great bread container!
They score Miele low as well and rarely even include what the Germans consider to be the finest appliance manufacturer in the world.
Consumer reports remains a mystery to me after a lifetime of reading it.
Lot of people like this publication for sure, - but not lots have ever been in position to see for themselves whats actually available in a number of categories and actually test them side by side. I was for a few years.
As a younger man I worked in a electronic /appliance store and we paid particular attention to buying the CR picks having buying meetings to procure this exact makes and models so we had on hand what people wanted across a wide variety of products (Tv's VCR's camcorder, washer/dryer/ small electronic/etc.)
We found that when doing comparisons to other products that may not have been tested we usually found their #1 pick at best top 3 to what was actually available vs what they showed for the comparison lineup.
The same guy I worked with 20 years ago now runs quality control for our company. Still remember laughing at some of their commentary...
"upon arrival at the testing area Larry found a button then Joe spotted a nickel !! After things calmed down a bit we began our testing..."
I hate cutting steak on paper.....but cannot deny its convenience.
