What is this fitting actually called?

Does anyone know what this fitting is called and/or why it leaks out of the bottom when everything is connected? It has a small hole underneath where you screw it together and what looks like a seal inside.

Just a guess, but that looks a lot like the fitting between my shower knob fitting and the hose going out to the handheld shower head. Had a small hole like that that I assumed was the flow regulator.

it came from exactly that spot, I just can't figure out what to call it or how to find a new one. Mine just started leaking out of nowhere from the small hole and it's getting behind things.

Looks like the internet led me to a mobile home / rv shower vacuum breaker. Now to track down the part.

Mine split and started leaking. Looked for one, realized that I simply had to buy another $20 knob set. Could not find that single part alone anywhere.

Glad I saw this thread. I noticed the vacuum breaker leaking this past weekend and promptly forgot about it after we got home.

Here's one on Amazon

If it started leaking. I wonder if the issue is a build-up of lime deposit inside the fitting. Would soaking it in vinegar, Iron Out, or CLR dissolve the lime and make the fitting usable again?
