What is this in my battery compartment

Can anyone identify what this is and what it does. It is connected to a positive terminal via a red wire and the label says 10A max. Two pics are of the same item with different view.

I'm going to install a BMV 712 battery monitor. I hope this doesn't interfere or complicate the install.

Appreciate any help you can render.

Thanks!

Looks like an automotive fuse holder to me.

Open it, maybe there's a spider in there.

I agree - looks like. A means to limit current into the coach to me.

Its a fuse holder.

Will have no impact on battery monitor as that measures amps going through the negative cable to battery.just make sure there are no wires except on the main negative except the one from bm shunt

Looks like it's negative/return exits the same hole there to the upper left. Maybe look around and see where that goes, or alternatively take the fuse out and see what stops working.

Possibly a solar charger.

If you have a Alison Transmission in it, it could be the fuse for that.

Mmmmm - looks to me like whatever it is is in the red hot lead going to the battery - typical of most any fused circuits (fusing on the ground or negative isn’t always a good idea on a negative ground system).

YMMV 😀

Definitely a water tight fuse holder. Pull the cover off and remove the fuse and see what's not working. Pretty heavy wire that it's feeding so it must be something with a decent amp draw

Does that label state '10A MAX' ?

In-line fuse/holder for:
LP Detector
CO Detectors
Stereo
???

It won't affect the BMV-712. That meter only requires that it be the primary (only) negative through the shunt. This fuse holder goes to positive.

I didn't write anything about fusing a negative in the post you quoted!
