Sensors are usually on the side of the tank and hard to access. The sensors are know to seldom work after a few months. One brand of sensor that works better than others is the SeeLevel units. Manufacturers do not use then as they cost more.
One good way to clean off the sensors is to put about 1/3 to 1/2 tank of water in both tanks. Give then a very liberal dose of cheap dishwasher powder soap. Take the unit for about a 30 minute drive and slosh then good. Then go and immediately dump both tanks and fill and rinse at least once. That should clean then up pretty good. You will need to do this every so often to keep them clean.
