The key to making a combo work is to do a load as soon as you have enough dirty clothes for a load. You don't have to wait for "Laundry Day".

If you're going to be out for a while, with the combo, you can program a wash/dry cycle so that when you get back your laundry is clean and dry. With a stacked washer/dryer, you won't be able t start the dry cycle until after you've returned.
Having had both combo and stacked, DW is much more satisfied with the stacked washer/dryer. Frequently, she'll do several loads and the ability to dry one load while the second is washing serves her 'style' better.
Take care,
Stu

Hadn't thought about the time saving 'feature'; thanks for that.
Will let the DW know about the extra spin cycle.

Are you aware that the spin speed for the "Cotton" cycle is quite a bit faster than it is for "permanent press"? We often wash the clothes on the cotton cycle so they get the fast spin, but then we dry them using the permanent press cycle so they get the lower drying temperature.

One thing Im not sure about, is if the stacked version is wire 220 volts on the dryer or not. If it is, it would certainly dry clothes quicker than my combo unit, as it is only 110 volts. Any 110 clothes dryer is going to be much slower than a residential type 220 volt dryer. Of course you would need a minimum of a 50 amp service to have a 220 dryer, 30 amps would be iffy. Nothing surprises me with the fancy stuff on the newer big coaches, so I wouldn't doubt lots of them are 220.

As an afterthought, 220 would be more than iffy on 30 amps, as there is not even 220 volts available. They are only 110 volts.

I compared all the specs last year and ended up with stacked Whirlpool. IIRC the washer had the highest spin speed. It sounds like a turbine spooling up on high speed, but it's very effective at extracting water before the clothes hit the dryer.
Remember to crack a window to allow air in to replace what the dryer vent pumps out for best performance. With 110v dryers air flow is doing more work than heating.
