Xantrex 458 no control panel leds

The control panel went dead sometime when on shore power.
The inverter is working and charging.
New remote and new cable, still no juice on the remote.

1. I read that you can reset the inverter by unplugging all power. I assume the settings will be wiped. Does anyone know if the default settings work fine? Because the inverter is working and charging, so i hate to have that go out, just to test the reset and that not fixing the issue, then be without inverter or charging.

2. anything inside the inverter that i can check that affects only the remote functions? I might take a look and check connections

There are two cables that look like telephone cables (RJ11 plugs) that plug into the inverter and the control panel. Make sure they are plugged in. Those plugs can sometimes come loose. If the plugs are plugged in and seated properly then I would check for broken wires or pins in the cables themselves. I've lost the control panel function twice on mine from the cables coming loose due vibration.

There is an internal fuse but I have no experience in dealing with it. You might contact Xantrex support for their suggestions. The default on my unit puts the inverter into standby mode. The only other thing O know is to look at the inverter itself to see what lights are on. There are soft push buttons on the inverter to control inverter functions like standby, charge and on/off. Double check the cables and make sure they didn't some how get crossed when the new remote and cables where changed if you haven't already done so.

Good luck with the fuse replacement and/or checking it all out. From what I've read and seen it's not to difficult to do, I just haven't had to do it yet...thankfully.
