Xantrex 458 turns itself ON

My Xantrex inverter turns itself on ALL THE TIME. I don't use much 110V power and only the refrigerator (always on propane) and the water heater are plugged in (I typically use propane for this as well) I'm off grid most of the time and my solar keeps the batteries, 4, Duracell gc2's almost a year old and right now show 12.3V charged pretty well. I do rarely use the generator for cooking.

I have performed both the soft and hard restarts with no changes. Xantrex has no idea, do you?

Do you have the remote panel for it? If so, perhaps disconnect it (I think there is a jumper one must install on the 458 if there is no remote panel) and see if it does the same thing... perhaps the panel is going full moron and intermittently turning the inverter on.

Intermittent malfunction

You said you have already talked to Xantrex Support. Most likely they covered the possibilities.

The Freedom 458 manual shows 4 different remote controls. Each one is capable of turning the inverter "on". A malfunction or intermittent short circuit anywhere in the remote wiring, switch, or panel could activate the inverter.

Look for loose connections or worn insulation along the wiring harness. Dismount the remote and shake it to see if you can make it happen.

Of course an internal malfunction could do it as well. Intermittent malfunctions are the hardest to find.
