Many people use 200W panels that are ~57X27 and have been one of the most popular set-ups. I used them originally and was able to install 1600W with room for 400W more if I needed it.
3 years later I have learned a bunch and if I was doing it from scratch I'd be doing it with 375-400W 60 cell residential panels that are approx 69X39 (Rec-Alpha) and building a rack that went right over the top of the AC units.... Here are some examples of a 200W install and a 3800W install in almost the same footprint.
