First commercially viable lithium metal battery solid state charges in just 15 minute

Some interesting reading for LI battery enthusiasts:

Solid state lithium batteries have been maturing in the laboratory for quite some time. I only hope that they become strong enough to escape from the laboratory.

I have a feeling by the time that happens, the next chemistry will be mature enough and will relegate lithium as older tech, such as sodium batteries.
Which would be a lot more green than lithium

In the interim, though, this would enable batteries using less lithium per unit, which can't hurt. Sodium has a ways to go. (Although tbf I thought lithium had a long ways to go, too, and they're progressing.)

The 800 cycle number needs some work, though probably good enough for RV use where typical use might be a 50% depth of discharge making that number 1600 "RV cycles" ........

I wonder if LiFePO4 batteries reaching end-of-life and being available for re-cycle will provide a goo bit of the Lithium required for the new solid state batteries.

I also hope there are no gotchas such as a much higher price per kWH. It concerns me that quotes like this don't mention cost ........

"Dr. Stanley Whittingham, co-inventor of the lithium-ion battery and winner of the 2019 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, stated in that regard that "… the hardest part of making a working solid state battery is the need to simultaneously meet the requirements of high energy density, fast charging, long life cycle, and wide operating temperature range. "
